Praying Boldly in the ICU
Where did I feel resistance?

This week I received a text that a friend was admitted to the ICU unexpectedly and his outlook didn’t seem promising.  I visited him in the ICU.  He was unresponsive with eyes open but not tracking or blinking and breathing tubes connected through his mouth.  It was difficult to see him in this condition.  It underscored for me that life continues on its own schedule.  We don’t determine the seasons, our ups and downs.  Life just happens.  But, I was able to pray for healing and a miracle to bring glory to God.  I prayed without abandon and fear of what others might think to be praying such boldness under the circumstances.  Our God is all powerful. Our God heals.  Why pray with such boldness?  Why not!

Where did I feel delight?
I’ve been praying since last Sabbath for confirmation about the word rooms that jumped out at me, as I shared in last week’s email:  “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” (John 14: 2, NIV).  When I got up on Tuesday morning I felt God say to meet Him at Fresh Fire, the morning prayer room at C4 Church.  I had not attended Fresh Fire in about a week and a half and wasn’t planning to attend this morning as I enjoy Tuesday mornings in my backyard spending time during my Sabbath with the LORD.  However, adding more encouragement to go to Fresh Fire on this morning, it started to rain which meant that I wouldn’t be spending my Sabbath in the backyard anyway.  So I went.

At Fresh Fire they pray prophetically through Bible verses during the hour-long session.  It was at about the 58th minute when the person at the microphone starts to say something like, “There is room for you in the Father’s house.  Let us go to the Father’s house.  Where all are welcome.  All find rest.  All will be glorifying Him.  Where we have a unified heart and mind as we set our eyes on Him.  There is nothing else to look at.  He’s the only thing that matters.  Just look at Him crowned in glory.” And she quotes John 14:2!  I took this as confirmation that John 14:2 and “rooms” has significance for this new season at KCF.  I look forward to explaining this in more detail to you soon.

Where did I most experience God’s nearness?

God is always near.  We crave signs, hints, or even overt messages that God is near.  But I believe, God is always near and often times He’s waiting for us to invite Him in.  We can remember what the Apostle Paul instructs the church in Thessalonica (modern day Thessaloniki in Greece) to “Pray without ceasing.  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thessalonians 5: 17-18, KJV).
